{"id":222,"date":"2013-11-13T14:33:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-13T19:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jackhanington.com\/blog\/?p=222"},"modified":"2015-06-15T14:15:54","modified_gmt":"2015-06-15T18:15:54","slug":"add-san-storage-to-microsoft-failover-cluster-fileserver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jackhanington.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/13\/add-san-storage-to-microsoft-failover-cluster-fileserver\/","title":{"rendered":"Add SAN storage to Microsoft Failover Cluster Fileserver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post assumes that you already created a failover cluster between at least two servers and have already created the file server role.<\/p>\n<p>Note: In my example I am adding 2 disks, one 10 GB and the other 5 GB at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>After you are done creating the volume on your SAN, \u00a0we need to connect to it on our two servers via the iSCSI initiator. Open the iSCSI initiator on both servers by clicking Start &gt; All Programs &gt; Administrative Tools &gt; iSCSI initiator. Find the volume you created on the SAN and connect to it.<\/p>\n<p>So, now that we have presented the new disk to all nodes of the cluster, we see the newly connected disk in the Disk Manager set to offline.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/jackhanington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Offline.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-223\" alt=\"Offline\" src=\"\/\/jackhanington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Offline.png\" width=\"563\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jackhanington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Offline.png 563w, https:\/\/jackhanington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Offline-300x92.png 300w, https:\/\/jackhanington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Offline-500x154.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 563px) 100vw, 563px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next step is to bring our new disk online. This only needs to be done on one of the servers in the cluster. It does not matter which server.
